Last week, my mum was on the market for a food processor, she wanted something to dice and slice her vegtables to make salsa among other things.

Unfortunately, she thought a blender was the same as a food processor, in fact, that’s the belief of many people. But it’s not the case, as she found out, when her salsa looked like tomato soup.

Blenders do what they say on the tin, they literally blend the food in to a liquid, they’re not designed to dice and slice.

Whereas a food processor is designed to do exactly that, they usually come with several different blades, which will alter how finely they dice your ingredients and of course, the length of time you leave your ingredients in, will alter the result at the end.

Blenders are great for soups and smoothies, whereas food processors are great for salsa, diced onion and peppers.
